Objectives:
The purpose of this course is to present all the facts that are related to the Garifuna people settling in Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala and Belize, which gave the rights to their lands and Territories in these countries. Terms and Definitions of Pre-Historic Belize settlement by Garinagu and their rights under UNDRIP and International Law. Students will be given the opportunity to ask questions they are not certain about to the Professors during the class.
Special emphasis will be on the Belize Maya Land Rights Case Ruling and how it impacts on Garifuna people Customary Land Rights in Belize and the countries where the Garifuna people currently reside.
Through this course, the Garifuna people and other people who enroll in it, will get to develop a clear and better understanding of why the Garifuna people have rights to the lands in the countries where they live.
